A consummate salesman. Nicholas grew up in northern Westchester and relocated to the North Fork, from Greenwich. CT. over a decade ago at the invitation of a cousin - a local vineyard owner. Having always enjoyed the region - and more specifically Southold Town- for its abundance of natural beauty, quality of life, along with the nascent 'wine culture'- it was an ideal fit for him.

Licensed as a realtor first in the 1980's, Nicholas was active in the Hudson Valley region finding weekend retreats for city residents, mainly in the rural communities of Millbrook, Rhinebeck and historic Poughkeepsie. After September 11th, Nicholas focused his sales career on North Fork real estate working with a 'start-up' agency and then with Joan Bischoff van Heemskerck's Buyers Connections Realty, prior to being selected by Town & Country to assist in their management and growth, locally.

Nicholas, who lives at Horton's Point, is the elected secretary of HANFRA (Hamptons and North Fork Realtors Association) for a second term. In addition, he is active in the Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society & Museums, the Mattituck Stakeholder's Committee, the Town of Southold Architectural Review Committee, and the local Chambers of Commerce. In his spare time - he enjoys walking the North Fork's diverse coastline with his Golden Retrievers, and can often be found beach-combing, working in his gardens, or cooking at home for friends and family.

With a keen eye for quality design and workmanship, founded on his education at CCNY School of Architecture and Engineering and a solid understanding of it, Nicholas has always been described as a creative person. Coupled with an innate sales talent, Nicholas understands the importance of establishing relationships through honesty and quality service. I was not surprised to hear that Joan Bischoff van Heemskerck and Nicholas Planamento had joined Town & Country Real Estate to run the North Fork offices. I had worked with them when they were associated with another company, and where they each stood out due to their integrity as well as their unique senses of both aesthetic and interpersonal style. I knew that these and other qualities and strengths of character would allow them to work together wonderfully well. I had spent every summer of my life in Mattituck, I wanted to find a rental property for the following summer. Money was an issue to us at the time, but Nich didn't make it one. He showed us properties exactly like what we had described, and well within our means, never wasting his time, or ours. He was knowledgeable about every aspect of each property, and believe me, I ask very detailed questions.One of the things I appreciate about Joan and Nich is that they really listen to me, and it shows in their actions. I had the sad task of selling our family's summer home after my mother's death, and after different members of our family had owned it for nearly 60 years. The discovery that my siblings were not interested in keeping it was hard, and the kindness and understanding that Joan extended to me in any part of the sale which he handled, is something I will never forget. Joan has an old-world European elegance sorely needed in this country. I never felt pushed or even felt that Joan thought of what he was doing as work. When I was going to sell my Mom's SOUTHOLD home, the best thing that happened to me was meeting NICHOLAS PLANAMENTO from Town & Country Real Estate.
